Annual Nevada Workshops

The Nevada Mining Association and Nevada Division of Minerals hold two earth science workshops a year, one in southern Nevada and one in northern Nevada. The goal of these workshops is to educate active K-12 Nevada teachers about the earth sciences, the importance of mined materials, and the role that mining plays in our lives. Through the classroom materials and lessons provided in the workshop, teachers will have the tools to provide accurate, standards-based science education to their students.

The workshops are designed so that participants will:

  • Receive and share information to increase their knowledge of the earth sciences.
  • Analyze information to develop lesson plans appropriate to their grade levels.
  • Understand the importance of mining and the minerals industry in today’s society

  • Teachers can receive University credit or Professional Development credit for attending the workshop.
